KVMs

Posted on 2026-08-022026-08-13 by Taneli

KVMs (PiKVM and JetKVM) so I don’t have to crawl into the server closet (comparison)

I recently got two types of KVMs:

  • A PiKVM with three extension ports, 4 devices each, bringing the total to 12 devices (4 servers, 4 Raspberry PIs, and an assortment of other devices). (see a youtube tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOuznbMjNnA )
  • A JetKVM, nifty little box managing one machine, which I hid under the desk

Given the usage, the PiKVM with the 12 hosts, is obviously more suitable for the server closet, whereas the JetKVM is perfect for the one machine in my office.

More to come, like support for VPN (or ssh tunnels), and certificate support (LetsEncrypt) — be patient.
